This beautiful De Ville, manufactured in 1956, is a stunning example of vintage Swiss watchmaking with a number of novel hallmarks and innovations, Hand-assembled in Omega's Bienne manufactory, the high-precision Calibre 491 automatic movement is their first example of a rotor-driven mechanism in a gentleman's-style watch and has anti-magnetic, shock-absorbent characteristics. The example within this specimen is miraculously good condition with little to no signs of wear, having gone unused for decades before receiving a servicing detail in 2016.
The external casing is made of 18K gold and is also in remarkably good condition given the watch's age, while its signature bevelled silver dial identifies the watch as part of the De Ville Trésor range, with its inset minute markers and a small-seconds readout, parts of which are still used in contemporary Omega watches. The watch retains all of its original parts, including the silver dial surface.
