Closer Look: RIOS1931 New York Shell Cordovan Leather Watch Strap

In this blog post we take a closer look to the New York Watch Strap in Shell Cordovan Leather. The skin is an equine leather from the skin in the lower part of the rump around the tail.

The manufacturing process used is called Remborde "Art Manuel": a complicated technique that consists of 172 steps. The upper layer is glued to the lining leather, the stitch goes through all layer and finally the upper layer is stitched tightly under lining leather. The strap is then shaved, sanded, organic tanned with vegetable substances, embossed, oiled and waxed. 

The final result is a soft but robust, anti-allergenic and water resistant material pleasant to the touch, the eye and the nose. 

The skin is finely hand-stitched with saddler's seam in white to contrast with the leather's earth tone. The stitching is not straight parallel to the strap but slightly oblique and the tiny irregularities make you appreciate the handwork even more.

The RIOS1931 New York Watch Straps come in 4 warm colours (Black, Mocha, Cognac & Honey) and in 4 sizes (18mm, 19mm, 20mm & 22mm). Suitable for aviation watches and large chronographs.
